This retractable canopy system can be fabricated for installation on nearly any size pergola. This pergola is 9 x 12' but these canopy systems can be made for up to 18 x 30'.

They are waterproof and carry a 12 year warranty on mechanicals and a 5 year Sunbrella warranty on the fabric.

You can go to Sunbrella.com to choose your fabric and let us take it from there.

The Design is by Lawrence Winterburn and it was built by Luke Simonovski-- our builder in East Toronto.

Hello;

For a school improvement project, we are repurposing our weed strewn
courtyard. We are thinking of making one area a presentation/performance
space, extending and existing overhang of 12\' to 24\' by adding a pergola.
The overhang itself is 68\' long - the second floor library and the existing
walls are all brick. The existing overhang has 6 columns - 3 on one side
and 3 on the other. We were thinking of using 4 columns - exposing the
middle back column on each side. for the floor surface - thinking brick or
cedar. We will be doing major landscaping around the rest of the courtyard
with various areas dedicated to arts and sciences.

Is this a stupid idea? That is - is the pergola a bad idea? We will be
applying for a grant to complete the project and would like to break ground
in the early spring.

Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time,

Hi Dianne--

It's hard to comment as to viability without seeing the space and running from verbal descriptions.

Send some sketches to plans@gardenstructure.com illustrating what you are thinking and I would be happy to make comments. Sounds like a great blog post to me.
